You can use a few different funding types on Careseekers, depending on how your support is funded.
The main options are:
- NDIS funding
- Support at Home funding
- private payment
The way payment works depends on the type of funding you use and who is responsible for approving and paying invoices.
The short answer
You can currently use Careseekers with:
- NDIS self-managed funding
- NDIS plan-managed funding
- NDIS agency-managed funding
- Support at Home funding, where your approved provider agrees to pay Careseekers for eligible services delivered through the platform
- private payment
Using NDIS funding on Careseekers
Self-managed NDIS funding
If you are self-managed, you usually have the most flexibility.
Self-managed participants can use registered or unregistered providers and are not subject to the NDIS pricing arrangements in the same way as plan-managed or NDIA-managed participants. That means you usually approve invoices yourself and pay them directly. Once payment is received, the worker is paid through the platform.
Plan-managed NDIS funding
If you are plan-managed, you still have strong choice over who provides your support.
Plan-managed participants can use registered or unregistered providers, but NDIS pricing arrangements and price limits apply where relevant. On Careseekers, invoices are approved by the client or their nominated person and then sent to the plan manager for payment.
Agency-managed NDIS funding
If you are agency-managed, your plan is managed by the NDIA.
Agency-managed participants can only use registered providers, and Careseekers is an NDIS-registered provider. For agency-managed support, workers also need to complete the required onboarding to work within this arrangement. Once invoices are approved, payment is requested from the participant’s NDIS funding and the worker is paid once the funds are received.
Using Support at Home funding on Careseekers
If you receive Support at Home funding, you may be able to use that funding on Careseekers.
Support at Home replaced the Home Care Packages Program on 1 November 2025. If your approved aged care provider agrees, they can pay Careseekers directly using your government funding for eligible services delivered through the platform.
This means you can use Careseekers to:
- compare workers
- choose the worker who suits you best
- arrange eligible services through the platform
Whether a service can be funded depends on your assessed needs, support plan and provider approval.
Using private payment on Careseekers
You can also use Careseekers for private support.
This can be useful if:
- you are not using government funding
- you want help sooner
- you want support outside your funded arrangement
- you want to add extra support alongside funded care
Private payment gives you flexibility to arrange the support you want directly through the platform.
Can I use more than one type of funding?
Sometimes, yes.
For example, some people use:
- Support at Home funding for eligible services
- private payment for extra hours or support outside the funded arrangement
The main thing is understanding which services are funded, which are private, and who is responsible for approving and paying invoices.
What is not currently supported?
At the moment, CHSP funding cannot be used on Careseekers.
What should I check before getting started?
Before arranging support, it helps to be clear on:
- what type of funding you are using
- who needs to approve invoices
- who will actually make payment
- whether your provider needs to agree to pay through Careseekers
- whether the service you want is eligible under your funding arrangement
The clearer that is upfront, the smoother the setup usually is.
