Before engaging a worker, it is important to meet face to face. Most of our workers are happy to organise a meet and greet prior to creating a contract with them.
We recommend the initial meeting with the worker to be held in a public place. If your meet and greet is happening in a private home, you may want to have more than one person present.
It is important to ask the worker if they expect to be paid for a meet and greet, although if it is less than 30 minutes most workers will be happy to visit free of charge.
Tips For Careseekers
- Have a list of questions about issues that are important to you and feel free to go through them methodically.
- You may ask to see copies of Police Certificates, qualifications and any other documents.
- You may wish to show the potential care or support worker your home ( even if its just photos), or talk about the environment they will be supporting you in.
- You will want to discuss/confirm rates if this has not already been confirmed.
- Just remember a Meet and Greet is to ascertain that it is a good match between care worker and client.
Questions for Care Workers
- Tell me about yourself?
- How long have you been a support worker?
- What do you like about this role?
- How have you helped your clients in the past week?
- What are your interests?
