Once you have found the right worker, the next step is putting the arrangement in writing.
On Careseekers, the contract helps make things clear from the start, so both you and your worker know what has been agreed. It covers the practical details of the support arrangement and gives you a clear reference point before bookings begin. The contract is started by the client and then accepted and signed by the worker.
Why the contract matters
A contract helps everyone feel more confident about how support will work.
It sets out the important details upfront, so there is less room for confusion later. That is especially helpful when support is ongoing, involves regular routines, or needs to fit around a specific schedule.
What the contract includes
Your contract includes the key details of the arrangement, including:
- the supports to be provided
- when support will be provided
- hourly rates and costs
- payments
- the cancellation policy
- additional information
- emergency contacts.
This means you can move ahead knowing the main parts of the arrangement have been clearly set out.
When the contract is created
The contract is created once you decide to move ahead with a worker and want to set up support properly.
After that, the worker can review it, accept it and sign it. Once the contract is active, you can start making bookings using the agreed terms.
How bookings connect to the contract
The contract sets the foundation, and bookings sit underneath it.
When you make a booking, you still choose the practical details, such as:
- the start time
- the end time
- how often support will happen, such as one-off, weekly or fortnightly
The rates used in the booking come from the contract, which helps keep things consistent and clear.
Where to view your contract
You can view your contracts in your account.
Go to:
- My Dashboard
- My Jobs and Contracts
From there, you can see jobs and contracts that are invited, awarded or active.
Can a contract be ended?
Yes. A contract can be terminated if the worker is no longer supporting you.
But do not terminate a contract while there are still invoices waiting to be approved or paid. Those invoices cannot be approved or paid without an active contract in place.
What should you check before moving ahead?
Before confirming a contract, it helps to make sure:
- the support being provided is clear
- the days or times are clear
- the hourly rate is correct
- the payment arrangement is clear
- the cancellation terms make sense for the support being arranged.
A few extra minutes here can make the whole arrangement feel smoother and more secure.
