Your references are an important part of your profile creation and activation. They help our team determine if you are a good fit for the Careseekers platform. They help your ability to get activated and onboarded quickly. Good, strong references give our team the chance to hear what a great asset you will be.
What makes a good reference?
- All questions on our form are answered
- Your referee is a person who can attest to your qualifications and character
(this can be a former employer, a colleague, a client or someone who can recommend you for the platform) - Your referee is a person who will complete the reference in a timely manner (our team is unable to activate your profile and you will not be able to commence searching for jobs until your refence check is complete - please select referees who will respond quickly so that your activation is not delayed)
Here we answer some questions you may have about references:
Who can be my reference?
Your reference needs to be a professional reference. This means they are someone who you have worked for in a professional/paid setting. They will need to answer questions about your work ethic, reliability, working with others and give additional insight into your personality.
Requesting Proof of Employment
Our team may request proof of employment when your references email doesn't come from the organisation email which you both worked at. This is to ensure the reference is valid as we prioritise the accuracy and credibility of your references
I have just arrived in Australia. What if my references are overseas?
That's no problem at all. We can contact references anywhere in the world. Please just provide us with their correct email address and a phone number and the country they are in and we will make sure we get in touch with them.
What if I dont have any formal working experinence?
As you would be working independently through the Careseekers platform, you will need to have either formal or informal work experience OR be studying a health related degree. We are happy to get references from academic teachers or tutors who know you well or supervisors from a placement or organisation where you have volunteered for a significant period of time.
How do I update my references?
You can go into your profile and update section two ( see image below) or email onboarding@careseekers.com.au with their name, phone number and email.
