In many cases, yes.
If you already have an aged care worker you know and trust, we may be able to help bring them onto Careseekers so you can keep that relationship while using a more flexible platform. If you want to use Support at Home funding, your approved aged care provider still needs to agree to pay Careseekers for eligible services delivered through the platform. Support at Home replaced the Home Care Packages Program on 1 November 2025.
The short answer
If you want to keep your current aged care worker and use Careseekers, the main things to check are:
- whether your worker is willing to join Careseekers
- whether they can meet our screening and onboarding requirements
- whether your approved provider agrees to pay Careseekers if you want to use government funding
- whether the services you want are eligible under your support plan.
If those pieces are in place, keeping your current worker may be possible.
Why people want to keep their current worker
Continuity matters.
If you already have a worker who understands your routine, preferences and support needs, keeping that relationship can make support feel more stable, personal and consistent. For many older Australians and families, that is just as important as cost or scheduling.
How this works through Careseekers
Careseekers is designed to give you more choice and control over who supports you, when they support you, and how often support is arranged. You can use Careseekers for Support at Home funding where your provider agrees, or for private support. There are no membership fees or lock-in contracts, and you can arrange one-off, occasional or ongoing support.
That means if your current worker can be brought onto the platform, you may be able to keep working with them while gaining more visibility over scheduling, profiles and payments.
What does your worker need to do?
If you want to bring your current worker onto Careseekers, they need to be able to work through our platform properly.
That means they need to:
- complete identity checks
- complete police checks
- meet our relevant onboarding requirements
- provide the documents and information we need
- be approved before they can start through Careseekers.
If the worker cannot meet those requirements, the arrangement cannot move across to the platform.
Does my provider need to agree?
If you want to use government funding, yes.
Your approved aged care provider needs to agree to pay Careseekers for eligible services delivered through the platform. If you are paying privately, you do not need that provider payment approval in the same way.
What services could still be arranged?
That depends on your support plan, your provider agreement and the kind of support your worker provides.
Through Careseekers, workers commonly provide support such as:
- personal care
- domestic assistance
- companionship
- transport
- respite
- overnight support
- dementia and palliative support, depending on the arrangement.
Under Support at Home, services still need to match your assessed needs and support plan. Government guidance groups them broadly into clinical supports, independence services and everyday living services.
Can I still choose when support happens?
Yes.
If your worker joins Careseekers, you can still arrange support around your schedule and preferences. Careseekers gives you flexibility to arrange one-off, occasional or ongoing support.
What should I check before getting started?
Before trying to move an existing worker across, it helps to be clear on:
- whether your worker is happy to join Careseekers
- whether they can complete our screening and onboarding
- whether your approved provider will pay Careseekers if you want to use Support at Home funding
- whether the services you want are covered in your support plan
- whether you want to use funded support, private support, or both.
The clearer these points are upfront, the smoother the move usually is.
Why this can be a good option
For many people, this offers the best of both:
- you keep the worker you already trust
- you gain more flexibility over the arrangement
- you can use Support at Home funding where your provider agrees
- you can also use private support if needed
- family members or representatives can help organise support through Careseekers.
