If you are choosing a worker through Careseekers, we require workers to complete important safety, verification and onboarding checks before they can start through our platform.
That helps us make sure participants can choose workers with more confidence.
The short answer
If a worker wants to provide NDIS support through Careseekers they need to have key checks and documents in place, including:
- an NDIS Worker Screening Check
- a National Police Check Certificate
- ID verification
- professional references
- a Working With Children Check, where relevant
- any required qualifications for the type of support they want to provide
- completed onboarding requirements before activation
NDIS Worker Screening
NDIS Worker Screening is one of the key checks for NDIS work.
The NDIS Commission says this check assesses whether a worker poses a risk to people with disability. It is nationally recognised and is valid for up to 5 years, unless it is cancelled or revoked earlier.
On Careseekers, workers need a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check before they can work through our platform.
Police check
Workers also need a National Police Check Certificate.
On Careseekers, this police check needs to be current and obtained within the 12 months before registering. Our Help Centre guidance lists a police check certificate as part of the required worker documents, and our safety guidance also highlights it as one of the core checks participants should expect.
ID verification
We also verify worker identity.
That includes 100 points of ID and proof of address as part of getting set up on Careseekers. This is one of the practical checks that helps confirm the worker is who they say they are before they can start through our platform.
References
Workers need to provide professional references.
On Careseekers, we require two professional and current references. This helps us better understand the worker’s background and gives participants more confidence when comparing support options.
Working With Children Check
If a worker wants to support children, they may also need a Working With Children Check.
The NDIS Commission says some jobs will require a Working With Children Check, and state and territory laws apply. Careseekers also requires a WWCC where relevant for the role.
Qualifications where relevant
Not every role requires the same qualification, but some supports do.
For example, on Careseekers, workers delivering personal care must hold a Certificate III. That helps make sure workers providing hands-on support have the right training for that type of work.
Onboarding before activation
Checks alone are not enough.
Before a worker can start through Careseekers, they also need to:
- complete our onboarding requirements
- provide the documents and information we need
- be approved before activation
This matters because a worker’s profile must be fully complete as part of onboarding before it can be activated.
Why these checks matter
Choosing a support worker is about more than availability.
These checks help build confidence that the worker has met important safety and verification requirements before they provide support through Careseekers. They are part of helping participants, families and coordinators choose workers more confidently.
