In many cases, yes.
If you already have a support worker you know and trust, we may be able to help you keep working with them through Careseekers. Whether that is possible depends on how your NDIS funding is managed and whether your worker can be set up to work through our platform. Because we are an NDIS-registered provider, we support self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants. NDIA-managed participants must use registered providers, while self-managed and plan-managed participants can use registered or unregistered providers.
The short answer
If you are self-managed, you usually have the most flexibility and can use registered or unregistered providers. If you are plan-managed, you can also use registered or unregistered providers, but NDIS pricing rules apply where relevant. If you are NDIA-managed, you can only use registered providers. That means you may still be able to keep your current worker through Careseekers, but they need to be able to work through our platform and the arrangement needs to fit your funding type.
How this works if you are self-managed
If you are self-managed, you have the most choice and control.
That usually means it is easier to bring across a worker you already know, provided they can be set up to work through Careseekers and the arrangement fits your support needs.
How this works if you are plan-managed
If you are plan-managed, you can still choose your own worker.
The key difference is that pricing rules apply where relevant. So if you want to keep your current worker through Careseekers, the worker and the support arrangement need to fit within those rules, and your worker needs to be able to meet our platform requirements.
How this works if you are NDIA-managed
If you are NDIA-managed, you can only use registered providers.
Because we are an NDIS-registered provider, NDIA-managed participants can use Careseekers. That means you may still be able to keep your current worker, but they would need to be set up to provide support through our registered-provider model and meet our platform requirements.
What needs to happen for your worker to come across?
If you want to keep your current worker through Careseekers, the main question is whether they can be onboarded to work through our platform.
That means they need to:
- meet our safety and verification checks
- complete our onboarding requirements
- provide the documents and information needed to work through Careseekers
- be approved to provide support through the platform
If that can be done, we may be able to help you continue the relationship through Careseekers rather than starting again with someone new.
Why people often want to keep their current worker
Continuity matters.
If you already have a worker who understands your routine, preferences and support needs, keeping that relationship can make the transition much easier. This is especially important when support is regular, personal or built around trust and familiarity.
Can you still negotiate rates?
Often, yes.
On Careseekers, our workers are independent and rates can be negotiated directly. If you are self-managed, you usually have the most flexibility. If you are plan-managed or NDIA-managed, NDIS pricing rules may still apply where relevant.
What should you check first?
Before trying to bring your current worker across, it helps to check:
- how your NDIS funding is managed
- whether you are self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed
- whether your current worker can meet Careseekers safety and verification checks
- whether your current worker can complete our onboarding requirements
- how invoices will be approved and paid
- whether the support category and pricing fit your funding arrangement
