Yes.
If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed (also called agency-managed), you can use Careseekers because we are an NDIS-registered provider. NDIA-managed participants can only use registered providers, and that is why using Careseekers is possible under this funding type.
The short answer
If you are NDIA-managed:
- you can choose from registered providers
- you cannot use unregistered providers
- you can use Careseekers because we are registered
- your support arrangement needs to sit within our registered-provider model.
So while the worker you choose on Careseekers is still an independent worker, the arrangement needs to run through us as the registered provider.
What does NDIA-managed mean?
When your funding is NDIA-managed, the NDIA manages payment to providers from your plan.
The NDIA explains that NDIA-managed participants can choose from a range of NDIS-registered providers, providers claim payment electronically from NDIS funding, and unregistered providers cannot be used.
Can you still choose your own worker?
Yes.
One of the benefits of Careseekers is that you can still have choice over the person providing your support. The key difference is that, for NDIA-managed participants, the support must be delivered through our registered-provider platform rather than as a separate private arrangement.
How this works on Careseekers
If you are NDIA-managed and want to use Careseekers, we act as the registered provider.
That means:
- you can choose a worker through our platform
- the support sits within our registered-provider framework
- invoices are paid through the NDIA once approved
- we then pay the worker through the platform.
What does the worker need to do?
If you want to work with a worker through Careseekers under an NDIA-managed arrangement, they need to be able to work through our platform properly.
That means they need to:
- meet our safety and verification checks
- complete our onboarding requirements
- provide the documents and information needed to work through Careseekers
- be approved to provide support through our platform.
Can you negotiate rates?
You can speak directly with workers on Careseekers, but for NDIA-managed supports the arrangement still needs to follow the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits where they apply.
The NDIA says that if your plan is NDIA-managed, providers must follow NDIS pricing arrangements and price limits, and providers cannot charge more than the relevant price limit.
How do payments work?
For NDIA-managed support through Careseekers, once the hours are approved, we request payment from the participant’s NDIS funding and then pay the worker once the funds are received.
Why this can still work well
If you are NDIA-managed, using Careseekers can still give you more direct choice over who supports you than a traditional rostered model.
You are still working within the registered-provider framework required for your funding type, but you can also:
- compare profiles
- choose the worker who feels right
- build more continuity
- arrange support in a way that better fits your routine.
What should you check first?
Before getting started, it helps to check:
- that your funding is NDIA-managed
- that the support you need fits your NDIS funding
- that the worker can meet our platform safety, verification and onboarding requirements
- that the arrangement will sit within our registered-provider model
- how invoices and approvals will work.
